How to Remove Freckles

Tips for Removing Freckles
Freckles are a heavy deposit of melanin in one particular spot on the skin. They are more often during the summer months and fade in winter.
Freckles are common in people with lighter skin, blond or red hair, and blue, green or grey eyes. They usually disappear after the age of 40-45.
So, how to remove freckles? You can reduce them with a few types of treatments.
- Use an over-the-counter topical bleaching cream with a bleaching agent called hydroquinone. In some cases, it can take months for good results. Hydroquinone, however, can irritate the skin and lighten the skin around the freckle.
- A dermatologist can use a superficial chemical peel. It can be done quickly and without any downtime. You will need several peels before you notice improvement.
- You can also try deep skin peels. They are more effective but very harsh, leaving your skin very unsightly after the procedure.
- Laser resurfacing is another treatment administered by a doctor. You will notice results after one treatment. However, this method for removing freckles is very expensive - over $1,000 per treatment.
- Intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) is a newer skin treatment. You will need a few sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. The benefits can last a year or longer and recovery time is minimal.
- To prevent skin discoloration, avoid sun exposure and always wear sunscreen.
- You can also try natural remedies. For example, apply the lemon juice with your fingers or wash your face with sour milk.
