Acne Skin Care and Dark Skin

Actually acne is an equal opportunity disease. The color of the skin has no bearing whatsoever on whether a person will have acne. Treating acne is based upon the type of acne it is and what the most effective treatment options are for the particular type of acne that is present in each patient.

Many acne medications make the skin sensitive to excessive sun exposure. This has nothing to do with the color of the skin. The sensitivity is simply a side effect of the medications. Those with darker skin complexions are not usually as prone to sunburn as those with lighter complexions but these medications make dark skin as susceptible to sun damage as their lighter skin friends. A sun blocking product with an SPF factor of at least 15 is recommended when there will be prolonged sunlight exposure.

Think Healthy Skin Care

There is one type of acne that often afflicts only those who are of African heritage. This type of acne is called Pomade Acne. Pomade acne is caused by a hair care product that is designed to straighten very curly hair. The product has a very heavy oil base and should be kept off of the skin as much as is possible. The pigmentation in very dark skin can get darker after an inflammation is cleared up.

This is called ‘post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation’….which means increased pigmentation following inflammation. The spots will gradually return to their normal color over time but a dermatologist can prescribe medication which will hasten the process.

You can use sunscreen lotion or that carry the "Sunday Protection Factor Rating System," also known as SPF. The protective agent was introduced in solar lotions or creams to prevent burns in 1978 Sunday. If you expose your skin to the sun for 10 minutes without sunscreen protection, you're skin turns pink, but if you are using a screen Sunday, which will take 20 minutes. This also depends on the type of skin is exposed. If your skin is fair, then your skin will be affected earlier and darker the skin pigment melanin acts as a natural blocker, and gives better protection from the sun. The SPF number actually indicates the percentage of UV rays, the cream or lotion blocks. For example, a product with SPF 2, block about fifty percent of the sun. Products with SPF 15 can block some ninety-three percent of radiation. Products with SPF 30 can block almost ninety-seven percent of the radiation. Therefore the most PESA, which receives the greatest protection. However, we should note that, sunscreen lotions and can give you one hundred percent protection from harmful UV radiation, so it will always be under a shadow and wearing a cap and shades. Ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium creams curtain acted as a barrier that reflects radiation from the sun like a mirror, which is why it is called "block of Physics." Sunday as synthetic screens benzophones, salicylates and cinnamat absorb UV radiation, and is not reflected. If you have sensitive skin, then choose only sites that have physical blocks to prevent skin reactions. Pigmentation Problems

Fairness has almost been an obsession with women who have a darker skin. So much so, that an entire industry flourishes in the developing and manufacturing a series of fairness enhancing products, from creams, lotions and even bars of soap.

Then of course we have the fair skinned women trying their hardest to get a sun tan and risking skin cancer just so they can get the bronzed look of a darker skin. Again a whole industry flourishes with creams , lotions and even supplements to be taken just so that those with fair skin can be darker.

But that aside there are some who have a real problem with the colour of their skin, and that is those who have vitiligo, those who are affected can be either dark or fair skinned.

In most cases the cause of the vitiligo is unknown, and it consists of irregular patches of various sizes totally lacking in pigment. This lack of pigmentation causes the person to have white or pale patches on their skin, sometimes with a darker border. These patches can be very small or they can cover huge areas of the body and are often on the more exposed areas of the body.

If pale or white patches appear on your skin you should go and see your Dr as vitiligo can be associated with several very serious diseases, including Graves’, Addison’s and Hashimoto’s to name but a few.

Sun-screens must be used as these areas are damaged by the sun very easily, our normal colour in our skin does give us some natural protection from the sun. The sun can also make the areas of the skin affected very itchy, so keep these areas covered to protect them.

So what can be done to treat vitiligo? not a lot I’m afraid.

Some Dr’s will try steroid creams, not a good idea as you may then have the problem of the skin thinning.

Although not a treatment as such, camouflage cosmetics is often the best way forward. If your vitiligo affects your face your Dr may be able to put you in contact with a cosmetic specialist, this specialist would be able to teach you how to apply the special cosmetics required to cover up the patches.

How To Get Rid Of Undereye Circles For Less

If there was a way you could afford to look ten years younger and get rid of your undereye circles without spending your life savings, would you do it?

I know I would and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. But it seems like each year the cost of anti aging skin creams and treatments tends to significantly increase. The International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM) just predicted that demand for these products will increase in 2009.

The IAPAM also said in the coming year we will see demand for minimally invasive procedures like Botox and dermal fillers reach their highest levels.

But in these tough economic times, the high price tags that go along with these anti aging treatments just aren’t worth it. Now there are so many places online to find discounted name-brand products that work just as well. And if you have hollow dark eye circles and think a dermal filler is the answer, then why not try a dermatologist recommended concealer/anti aging skin serum for a fraction of the cost?

The choice is yours.
