Skin Pigmentation – Causes and Remedies

The natural complexion of the skin is determined by the amount of melanin faceproduced by the skin cells. Sometimes melanin is unevenly distributed in the skin and as a result certain parts of the skin look darker than the rest. Dark spots and patches appear on the skin giving it a blotched, blemished look. This condition is referred to as hyper pigmentation. Hyper pigmentation can be caused by a variety of factors like, hormonal changes during adolescence, pregnancy and menopause, nutritional imbalances, prolonged exposure to sunlight and the natural process of aging. Sunbathing is one of the most common causes ofpigmentation. Eating wrong foods also causes pigmentation. Pigmentation can occur when either you are undernourished or you are malnourished. It occurs when you have a poor diet. People who suffer from albinism also have pigmentation problem. Melasma is related to the activity of female hormones and occurs during pregnancy and when a woman takes birth control. Melasma is one of the causes of skin pigmentation. Sometimes during pregnancy, a woman might start noticing brown spots on her face. So pigmentation may occur during pregnancy too. A woman can suffer fromgreenpigmentation problem post menopause. Illness like pneumonia and other severe health problems may lead to certain types of pigmentation.

Some of the remedies of skin pigmentation are –

a) Use creams containing Vitamin E on your face or on areas affected by pigmentation. Vitamin E cures skin pigmentation. You can also take Vitamin E capsules to cure pigmentation.

b) Application of Vitamin E with mixed with castor oil on your face on a daily basis reduces pigmentation. This also helps to remove all marks from your face in a very positive way.

c) Take two tablespoons of powdered milk and add it to two tablespoons of glycerin. Apply this mixture on your face daily in order to reduce pigmentation.

d) Have Aloe Vera juice on daily basis. It helps reduce pigmentation.

e) Apply Aloe Vera gel all over your face, especially on pigmented areas everyday. It will reduce pigmentation. You can also apply Aloe Vera in its natural form. It’s very useful for dark pigmentation.

f) Have a healthy diet. Take green vegetables and a lot of fresh fruits. This will reduce pigmentation.

g) Drink plenty of water everyday in order to reduce pigmentation.

h) Intake of olive oil which is extremely rich in reserves of Vitamin E will do wonders in making your skin look much healthier, smoother and ever glowing. It also reduces skin pigmentation.

i) Use good quality sun block cream or sun block lotion on your skin before going out in the sun in order to avoid skin pigmentation.
