Makeup for Dark Skin

A makeup for dark skin is more resilient than fair skins. Due to more pigment, it can withstand exposure to the sun much better. It is basically hardier. It is always a repetition that any skin, which is healthy and clear, can look beautiful. With a flawless and healthy skin, the dark skinned girl can replace the Indian fascination for “fair” skin with the idea that “brown is beautiful”.

What bears repetition is that any skin which is healthy and clear can look beautiful. A sheer foundation and a good concealer are important for creating the illusion of perfect skin. The foundation should not be lighter than skin color. Dark skin shows up layers of make up much more than fair skin so mixing should be done carefully. Add a drop of water to foundation before applying it.
Color foundation: Choose a creamy or liquid foundation, but one that is not oily. Its always better to use a water based foundation. If there is a lot of yellow pigmentation in the skin, use a product that is not orange based. The foundation should not be lighter than your skin tone. Try to get one which is as close to your normal skin colour as possible. When you apply foundation and powder, your aim should be for a lighter coverage. Remember that dark skins show up layers of make-up much more than fair skins. Special attention should be paid to blending.
For your lipstick choose colors like copper, bronze, dark red, wine and burgundy. You can use a single color or a blend of two colors according to your skin color. For nighttime use darker colors. Do not use lipstick in excess. It will be good, if your lip color will match to your nail colors. Try to maintain a balance between your eyes and lip color so that one does not look heavy on other.
Liners: Using eye liners and lip liners is essential. You want these areas of your face to stand out. Therefore, you want to highlight them by lining them with color. Use a lip color in a liner that matches the lipstick that you use on your lips. Then, shade in the area. This gives a distinctive look to your lips. Do the same for your eyes with eye liners. You can then add eye shadow to them to help enhance the look that they offer.
Your blusher too should not be pinkish. Peachish blushers work best on dusky complexion. A gold eyeshadow would be complimentary where as a silver one may not look good.If you wish to use eyeshadow, avoid white or very light colours. A soft brown eyeshadow can be used in combination with a darker brick-brown. Apply the light brown on the upper eye lids. Use the dark brown in the crease of the eyelid to give depth to the eyes and carry it out slightly outwards. This should blend into the upper brow bone, proceeding from lighter brown in the inner corner to darker brown, going outwards.
